STATE OF THE CHURCH 2025 – PART 1

November 9th, 2025 | Seventh Day Adventist
1. Opening & Why This Matters
[SLIDE 1 – State of the Church 2025]
Church, today is a meaningful day for our house.
This is our first ever State of the Church Sunday.
Not a business meeting. Not just an announcement Sunday.
This is a moment for our whole family to see what God has done, how this church is built, and where we’re headed.
If you’re new, this will help you go, “Oh, this is what I’ve said yes to.”
If you’ve been here for years, I hope you’ll say, “I had no idea we were this organized, this intentional, and that God was doing this much.”
We want you to walk out of here grateful, confident, and expectant for what’s next.
2. Our Story So Far
[SLIDE 2 – PNWD History / Milestones]
In Joshua 4:1-9, God commands the Israelites to set up twelve stones from the Jordan River as a memorial after He miraculously stopped its waters, allowing them to cross into the Promised Land. These stones served as a physical reminder of God’s faithfulness and a way to teach future generations about His provision. “In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’” It encourages us, too, to set up our own “stones of remembrance,” moments or items that remind us of God’s work in our lives and help us remain grateful and faithful, especially during times when we need to remember His past provision.
Our story didn’t start with a building.
It started with a burden in 2017: that Boulder would have a Jesus-centered, Spirit-filled, Bible-rooted church planted right in the middle of it.
From that first Sunday at Nevei Kodesh, to Lookout, to Riverside, to Casey, to here at Seventh Day, every move has been a miracle.
Every step has been God saying, “I’m not done with this city. I’m planting something here.”
[STORY #1]
The story from where we started, to where God has us today is nothing but a complete miracle and a sign to the world that Christ is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail!
From day one, God has been faithful.
3. Celebrating God’s Faithfulness
a. Salvations, Baptisms, Growth Track
[SLIDE 3 – Salvations / Baptisms / Growth Track + definitions]
We count numbers because numbers are people, and people matter to God.
This year:
- Salvation – people placing their faith in Jesus.
- Baptism – public declaration of that new life.
- Growth Track – where people move from spectator to contributor.
We’ve seen decisions for Christ, people going into the water, and people stepping into purpose. That’s not hype; that’s health.
[STORY #2 – BAPTISM / LIFE CHANGE]
One quick story:
- A baptism story, a family changed, or someone who came skeptical and is now serving/leading.
b. Crews, Attendance, Serve Team
[SLIDE 4 – Crews / Attendance / Serve Team + definitions]
We have:
- Crews – small groups all over our city where people are known, challenged, and discipled.
- Attendance – not just a count, but a weekly snapshot of people gathering to worship.
- Serve Team – over 100 people using their gifts so others can encounter Jesus.
This is not a church built on the gifts of a few, but the sacrifice of many.
[STORY #3 – CREW OR SERVE TEAM]
Tell a story:
- A Crew that carried someone through crisis.
- A Serve Team member who came to serve and found family.
c. Online Reach
[SLIDE 5 – Online Reach: YouTube / Spotify / Podcast]
God is also using digital doors:
- Over 339k YouTube views
- 69k+ Spotify plays
- Nearly 10k podcast downloads
In a city and culture like ours, the gospel is leaving this room and showing up in earbuds, living rooms, and on screens all week long.
This is what “Here to Stay” looks like – presence in the room and presence beyond it.
[STORY #4 – ONLINE IMPACT]
Very short:
- Someone who found Pinewood online first or was encouraged by a message midweek.
4. Our Theme: More Than Enough
[SLIDE 6 – “More Than Enough” (3 points)]
[SLIDE 7 – 2 Corinthians 9:8]
Our 2025 theme is “More Than Enough.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 says:
“And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.”
We are not building from lack.
We believe God has already placed in this house:
- the people we need,
- the gifts we need,
- the grace we need,
to do the work He’s calling us to.
So this year we:
- Recognize God’s provision.
- Reject a scarcity mindset.
- Respond with bold faith.
This whole State of the Church is us saying together:
“God, You’ve been more than enough, and we’re ready to steward it well.”
5. Where We’re Going in This Talk
[SLIDE 8 – Content: Part 1 & Part 2]
Two parts:
- Part 1 (today): Who we are and how we’re built.
- Part 2 (next week): What we’re building and where we’re going – budget, staffing, future, buildings, big vision.
By the end of both weeks, you’ll see the full picture of Pinewood – the heart, the structure, and the future.
6. Our Mission & Creed
[SLIDE 9 – Mission]
Our mission:
“Meet people where they are and point them to Jesus.”
We are not here to impress Boulder.
We are here to serve Boulder, love Boulder, and introduce people to Jesus.
[SLIDE 10 – PNWD Creed]
Read it slowly, like a declaration.
This creed anchors us:
Jesus is the message.
This is His church.
We serve. We’re grateful. We’re expectant.
To God be the glory.
7. Our Values: The Culture of This House
[SLIDE 11 – Content marker (you can click past quickly if duplicate)]
[SLIDE 12 – Our Values list]
These eight values define how Pinewood feels:
- Jesus Is Our Message
- Connection Is Our Culture
- Generosity Is Our Privilege
- Worship Is Our Weapon
- Servant Leadership Is Our Calling
- Prayer Is Our Priority
- Excellence Is Our Pursuit
- Honor Is Our Commitment
These aren’t wall statements. They are how we build a house where people encounter Jesus.
[STORY #5 – CULTURE IN ACTION]
Pick one value:
- A moment of radical generosity
- A powerful worship moment
- A story of honor or prayer changing something
8. How We’re Led: Structure & Governance
[SLIDE 13 – Content marker]
[SLIDE 14 – Board of Directors]
[SLIDE 15 – Directional Leadership]
[SLIDE 16 – Staff Team]
Healthy churches have clarity.
We have:
- An External Board of Directors – spiritual oversight, wise counsel, accountability.
- A Directional Leadership Team – Lead & Co-Lead Pastors, key pastors and leaders who pray, plan, and steer the mission.
- A growing Staff Team and Team Leads – who equip and empower volunteers.
This isn’t about control; it’s about care.
It ensures this church is not built on one person’s personality, but on shared conviction and biblical structure.
9. Ephesians 4 & Our Leadership Vision
[SLIDE 17 – Ephesians 4:11–13 / More Than Enough]
Ephesians 4 says Jesus gave leaders “to equip the saints for the work of ministry.”
Our job as pastors and leaders is not to do all the ministry.
It’s to equip you to do the work of ministry.
We believe:
- Every believer is called.
- Every calling matters.
- Every gift has a place in this house.
10. Leadership Definition & Pipeline
[SLIDE 18 – Content marker]
[SLIDE 19 – Leadership Definition]
[SLIDE 20 – Discipleship Framework]
[SLIDE 21 – Leadership Pipeline]
Here’s our definition of leadership:
“The relational and repeatable process by which leaders empower and equip others, in accordance with their gifts and passions, to make disciples and build the Kingdom of God.”
Our discipleship and leadership process:
Discover → Disciple → Develop → Deploy.
Pipeline:
Executive → Director → Team Lead → Captain → Serve Team.
It’s not about titles; it’s about next steps.
We want you to know: there is a clear path here to grow, lead, and multiply.
[STORY #6 – SOMEONE DEVELOPED]
Brief story:
- Someone who started serving, was discipled, and is now leading a team or Crew.
11. Five Pillars of Ministry
[SLIDE 22 – Content marker]
[SLIDE 23 – Ministries in the 5 Pillars]
Everything we do runs through five pillars:
- Creative – worship, story, AVL, digital, design.
- Next Gen – kids, youth, college, family, camps.
- Next Steps – Growth Track, baptism, hospitality, connect.
- Crews – discipleship in community.
- Missions – Love Boulder, Love Global, outreach, partnerships.
This is how we reach, root, and release people.
[STORY #7 – NEXT GEN OR MISSIONS]
Tell one:
- A kid or youth moment.
- A Love Boulder or missions moment that shows: “This is why we exist.”
12. Events & Rhythms
[SLIDE 24 – Content marker]
[SLIDE 25 – Events & Rhythms]
To keep our church healthy and aligned, we run on intentional rhythms:
Monthly:
- Baptism Sundays
- Communion Sundays
- Team Nights
- Lead Nights
Seasonal:
- Child Dedications
- Her Nights
- Prayer & Fasting
- Prayer & Worship Nights
These aren’t just events. They’re anchors that shape us spiritually and keep us connected.
13. Our Ordinances
[SLIDE 26 – Doctrine: Baptism & Lord’s Supper]
Two ordinances we cherish:
Baptism – public act of obedience, immersion in water, declaring faith in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, walking in new life (Romans 6:4).
The Lord’s Supper – symbolic act of obedience where we remember His sacrifice and proclaim His death until He comes (1 Corinthians 11:26).
These moments keep Jesus at the center of our story.
14. Seasons & Big Sundays
[SLIDE 27 – SZN’s & Rhythms]
[SLIDE 28 – All Team Sundays / Big Sundays]
We build in SZN’s so our church can breathe and build:
- Jan–Apr
- May–Aug
- Sept–Dec
Each season crescendos with Easter, Anniversary, Conference, or Christmas – big moments where we rally the whole house and reach our city.
This seasonal model lets us be strategic, sustainable, and Spirit-led — not hurried and burnt out.
15. Yearly Themes: The Story God Is Writing
[SLIDE 29 – Content marker]
[SLIDE 30 – Yearly Themes]
[SLIDE 31 – Yearly Themes + Here To Stay]
Look at this progression:
- Make Room
- Build a Bridge
- Breakthrough
- Rooted
- Faith to Build
- Stay the Course
- More Than Enough
- Here To Stay
It’s not random language. It’s a prophetic storyline.
God has been forming us into:
- a people who make room,
- build bridges,
- contend for breakthrough,
- stay rooted,
- build with faith,
- stay the course,
- believe for more than enough,
- and commit to being here to stay for Boulder and beyond.
16. Closing Vision
[SLIDE 32 – Thank You]
Church, this is who we are.
This is how we’re built.
This is what you’re a part of.
Not fragile. Not aimless.
A healthy, structured, Holy Spirit-led church with clear vision and deep conviction.
Next week in Part 2:
- I’m going to walk you through where we’re going – the budget, staffing, buildings, big vision, and how each of us plays a part.
- It’s the forward-looking half of this conversation.
But for today, let this land:
God has been more than enough every step of the way.
And I believe, with everything in me, the best days of Pinewood are still ahead.
We are not just a church in Boulder.
We are a church for Boulder.
We’re not here for a season.
We are here to stay.
Was this helpful? Here's how it stays free.
