Previous Themes:

Every year God has spoken a theme over our hearts for the church.

  1. 2019: Make Room: after we launched the church in August of 2018 we felt such momentum. God was speaking over us to make room. Not to get comfortable or settled with the people around us, but to continue to reach out, invite more people, and to make room. As a result of that we saw God multiply us from 1 service to 2 services at the synagogue. We saw so much growth in our crews, church, and in our hearts.
  2. 2020: Build a Bridge: We had no idea what 2020 would hold. God had spoken Build a Bridge over our hearts. We desired to build bridges with organizations in our city, churches, and more. This has been the most critical year for us to stick together, to say and believe we know we are not alone and we are going to journey together.
  3. 2021: Breakthrough: We believed that God wanted to bring about significant breakthrough in the lives of the people at Pinewood, but even more, we believe God was bringing breakthrough for our city. All throughout the year we heard testimony after testimony of miracles, restoration, and countless answers to prayers. God did it!
  4. 2022: Rooted: Our theme for this year is ROOTED. There’s a time to plant and then there’s a season to become rooted. In 2022 we are rooting ourselves deep in things of Kingdom significance. This year we are focusing on deepening our roots in Christ and the Word of God.

Passage: Colossians 2:6-7 CSB

“So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.”

Why Rooted?:

  1. Roots sustain the tree in times of extreme conditions, they provide the necessary nutrients to produce fruit.
    1. “The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed. He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.” - Jeremiah 17:7-8 CSB
  2. “To avoid root disease, maintain a healthy, vigorous environment around a tree.”
    1. “How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” - Psalm 1:1-3 CSB
  3. Roots that run deep not only bring life to the tree, but they give longevity to the harvest.
    1. “And others are like seed sown on rocky ground. When they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy. But they have no root; they are short-lived. When distress or persecution comes because of the word, they immediately fall away.” - Mark 4:16-17 CSB

How to OWN the Vision.

  1. Pray Fervently [ask God to give you vision for how you are to be a part, pray for the vision of your leaders, pray for our city, pray for our world]
  2. Show up Consistently [you gotta show up to grow up, be the first to show up and the last to leave, show up to Team nights, to Crews, to Church]
  3. Give Generously [above & beyond, 1% or 10% challenge]
