Feed your faith

There are seasons when a leader can keep doing the work while feeling tired inside. We know the schedule and can carry the responsibility, but our expectation has grown small. Sometimes the next step begins with giving fresh attention to the God we are serving.

Romans 10 (opens the passage on Bible.com) connects faith with hearing the message about Christ. What we keep listening to shapes our attention. Make room for Scripture. Read slowly enough to consider what it reveals about God and how He is calling you to respond.

Bring the actual places where you feel discouraged into that time. You do not have to pretend they are easy. Ask God to help you hear His Word and trust His character within them. A leader needs to receive truth personally before trying to offer encouragement to everyone else.

Speak from God's faithfulness

Romans 4 (opens the passage on Bible.com) describes Abraham's confidence that God was able to do what He had promised. The focus is God's ability and faithfulness. That gives us a foundation for the way we speak about the future.

Listen to the language you are using with your team. Are your words helping people remember who God is? Are you speaking honestly about the challenge while leaving room for faithful action? We can acknowledge a real difficulty and still encourage one another to trust Him.

Be careful about the promises you attach to your plans. We can hold a ministry idea with hope and humility. We can confidently say that God is faithful without claiming that every result we prefer is something He has promised. That distinction helps our encouragement remain trustworthy, especially when a season unfolds differently than we expected.

Take the next faithful step

Sometimes we wait for confidence to arrive before acting on something we already know we should do. We keep considering the conversation, the invitation, or the act of service. A simple step of obedience gives faith an expression in our lives.

Ask what God has made clear through His Word and through careful prayer. Seek wise counsel where you need it. Then identify a step you can actually take. You may still feel nervous when you take it.

Fresh faith can be practiced in ordinary ways: returning to prayer, encouraging a discouraged teammate, or following through on a responsibility you have avoided. Stay attentive to what God is teaching you as you move. You are learning to depend on Him within the work.

Lead this week

Name one area where your expectation has grown tired. Bring it to God with an open Bible. Write down one truth about His character and one faithful response you can make. Share that response with someone who will pray with you and help you follow through.

Talk it through

What has been shaping your expectations lately? What clear act of obedience have you been postponing?

One next step

Pair one truth from Scripture with one specific action you will take this week.
